Its a dark time in Israel. Thinking of my beautiful brothers and sisters in their time of strife and mourning, and praying for those who lost their lives to hatred and violence. Trying my best to send beauty and light into the world, and as always, hoping for peace on earth. This is one of my favorite Turlough O'Carolan airs. It is said to have been written for Eleanor Plunkett of Robertstown, who lost her family and lands during the Cromwellian Plantation in the mid-1600's. It's sweet and sad, and to me it speaks of beauty despite hardship, strength despite despair. It's a story that was a tragic part of Ireland's history, but also one that added to the resilient character of Irish culture.
